Daniel Chan: I want to win a medal at Tokyo 2020
10 Jul 2019
“Before the accident, I had no particular dreams but now I want to win a medal at Tokyo 2020,” says HKBU athlete Daniel Chan Ho Yuen.
Daniel is one of Hong Kong’s top Para badminton athletes and is ranked second in the world in the men’s singles Wheelchair 2 (WH2) category. Though he lost his leg in a traffic accident in 2009, he didn’t lose his will and vitality. Badminton has become his goal. “Though I have a disability, I have value,” he says. With unrelenting effort and perseverance, he will join the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and a medal is within reach.
“I want to prove that athletes in Para sports can be very professional, and may sometimes be even more professional than the able-bodied athletes,” he says. Keep going, Daniel!
