Topaz Leung: “Photographers should be open to different types of information and build up their own professional style.”

When you glance through local adverts or photos of high-end fashion brands, you may find that quite a number of these creative works were produced by Ms Topaz Leung, an alumna of the HKBU School of Communication who has received numerous honours and awards in recent years.

Topaz thinks that commercial photography has a comparatively strong influence on, and the ability to get in touch with, a much wider audience. As the effect of images could reflect the ambience and temper of a city, and affect people’s impression of that place, Topaz has some advice for young people who are interested in entering the profession. “Aspiring photographers should be open to different types of information and build up their own professional style. What’s more, express your feelings in your work with sincerity, instead of riding along with the tides.”
