The CIE Green Week, jointly organised by the College of International Education (CIE) and CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP) with the World Green Organisation, was held earlier to kick off the College’s campus environmental protection promotion scheme. About 300 staff and students attended the event in support of the College’s green initiatives.

To echo the slogan “Take a green step to ignite life’s energy”, the event featured games that carried meaningful messages, such as “Save Our Planet” game booth and “Environmental Culprit Wanted” video game. Both students and teachers had a chance to try the Electricity Generating Stepper invented by CLP which enables participants to gain knowledge about energy generation and conservation while doing step-ups on the machine.

At the closing ceremony, Dr Sam Lau, Director of CIE, showed his gratitude to the supporting organisations in bringing new perspectives and insights on the latest trends of environmental protection to students. He also welcomed this year’s Green Ambassador Executive Committee and expressed his appreciation of their commitment in promoting environmental protection and energy conservation to fellow students.

The Green Week is a signature event of this year’s CIE Green Ambassador Scheme, which aims to raise students’ awareness on environmental protection and the new trends in sustainable development. Upcoming activities will include eco trips to Mai Po Nature Reserve and visits to local environmental protection facilities.
