A six-member delegation of the De Tao Group, including its Chairman Mr George Lee, De Tao Master and Chair of International Board of United World Colleges Sir John Daniel, as well as De Tao Master and Senior Advisor on International Affairs for the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the USA Ms Stamenka Uvalic-Trumbic, visited HKBU on 17 November 2017.

 

The delegation learned about HKBU’s latest developments, especially in the School of Communication, the Academy of Film and the Academy of Visual Arts, as introduced by Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr Albert Chau, and Associate Vice-President (Mainland Development) and Dean of School of Communication Professor Huang Yu. Meanwhile, Mr George Lee delivered a brief introduction about the De Tao Group and De Tao Masters Academy – a De Tao subsidiary which has brought together hundreds of world masters to deliver a variety of educational contents and comprehensive services for universities. 

 

HKBU and De Tao Group found many common interests in the fields of film and visual arts, and hope to develop a closer collaboration between both parties. 

 

Other HKBU representatives welcoming the visitors included Associate Vice-President (Engagement) Mr Yeung Chee-kong, and Acting Director of Academy of Visual Arts Mr Peter Benz.

 

Founded in 2006, De Tao Masters Academy is a subsidiary of De Tao Group. Currently it has over 500 global industrial experts and academic leaders, focusing on research in six domains: design, fashion, arts, business, animation and films. The Academy is committed to providing international expertise in a Chinese cultural context to enhance creativity, innovation and business opportunities. It has established long-term cooperative relations with many colleges and universities in mainland China and wishes to explore collaborative opportunities in Hong Kong.
