HKBU and three US universities explore collaboration opportunities

In an effort to share experience and good practices in teaching and learning, research, community service, internationalisation and Whole Person Education with US universities, a delegation led by Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, visited Georgia Southwestern State University, Emory University and Georgia State University in the US to discuss collaboration opportunities (8-11 January).
HKBU signed an agreement of cooperation with Georgia Southwestern State University to initiate a bilateral cooperative relationship.
Under the cooperative framework, HKBU and Georgia Southwestern State University will explore the possibility of launching an undergraduate exchange programme. Representing the two institutions signing the agreement were Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, and Dr. Kendall Blanchard, President of Georgia Southwestern State University.
During the four-day visit, HKBU also signed a student exchange agreement with Georgia State University to strengthen ties between the two institutions. One of the strategic goals of Georgia State University is internationalisation, which is also one of the focus areas of HKBU’s strategic development.
In addition, the HKBU delegation met with Emory representatives to share good practices in areas such as knowledge transfer, teaching and learning, campus life, as well as international programmes.
The HKBU delegation, led by Professor Albert Chan, included Professor Rick Wong, Vice- President (Research and Development), Professor Albert Lee, Director of Student Affairs, Dr. So Kwok-sang, Academic Registrar, Mr. Chiu Ping-kwan, Director of General Administration, Mr. Peter Li, Director of International Office, and Dr. Eva Wong, Director of the Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning.
