Researchers from different HKBU faculties and departments shared their research endeavours related to the COVID-19 outbreak at the “Combating COVID-19: Hindsight 20/20?” e-workshop which was organised by the Graduate School on 22 May.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, HKBU has been conducting around one hundred research projects which focus on combating the pandemic. These research projects can be grouped under five key themes, namely “finding a cure”, “controlling the infection and spread”, “media’s role during COVID-19”, “interacting with society”, and “policy research”.

In his opening remarks, Professor Guo Yike, Vice-President (Research and Development), said: “The COVID-19 pandemic is a crisis which affects all mankind. In human history, whenever there was a crisis, the universities responded with the strength of intelligence and moral spirit.”

By assembling cross-disciplinary researchers from across the University who are undertaking impactful research projects, the e-workshop showcased HKBU’s caring DNA, which has been highly visible in its joint efforts to tackle the pressing issues brought about by the pandemic. The e-workshop also provided a platform for the HKBU community to exchange relevant insights and identify opportunities for collaboration.
