The Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology (JAS) recently organised a series of talks on archaeology. Professor Gao Dalun, from the Southern University of Science and Technology, and Professor Fang Hui, Dean of the School of History and Culture at Shandong University, were invited to share their latest archaeological research.

Professor Gao Dalun introduced major maritime archaeological finds from the Jiangkou Battlefield Site at Pengshan, Sichuan, one of the top 10 archaeological findings in China in 2017. Professor Fang Hui introduced the world of bronze cosmetic utensils in the Zhou Dynasty.

JAS also organised the fourth “Scholarship and Culture” series under the title “Unfettered Spirit, Utter Liberation: Selected Artworks by Professor Jao Tsung-I”. Twenty-seven precious exhibits were on display. Five public lectures on Professor Jao’s scholarship, a Master Class, and a Taster Day of Paper Fan Art were also held to pay tribute to the spirit of Professor Jao and commemorate his academic and artistic achievements.
