The Department of Education Studies invited Professor Louis Gomez, Professor of Education and Information Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles and Senior Fellow at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, to share his experience and innovative educational improvement ideas in a lecture titled “How to Build Smart Society – Educational Improvement Science”.
Professor Gomez spoke about how to bring networked-based improvement science to the field of education to form a Networked Improvement Community (NIC) and shared some of the successful cases. This new initiative aims to help the field adopt a new perspective on design and educational engineering, and develop efforts that can catalyse long-term, cooperative initiatives.
With a well-specified common aim, the NIC focuses on putting ideas into action by joining together independent groups of tools and materials, people, and processes.
