The University launched an Alumni Tree Naming Campaign earlier and, with the generous support of many alumni and alumni associations, raised over HK$1.6 million for the First-Generation University Student Fund. A total of 15 selected trees on campus were successfully named.

An HKBU Alumni Tree Naming Ceremony was held on 18 May for the University to express its heartfelt gratitude to the alumni supporters. Around 100 alumni and guests attended the ceremony to witness the naming of the Alumni Trees. They were excited about being able to provide support to our students while having the names present on campus.

In his welcoming speech, Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, thanked the alumni for their generous contribution and commitment to their alma mater. He said that each alumni tree symbolised the close connection linking students, alumni supporters and HKBU. With the staunch support from alumni, hundreds of first-generation university students will be provided with financial support, enabling them to engage in activities that will advance their knowledge as well as their personal and career development.

At the Ceremony, the alumni supporters were given special souvenirs in the form of photo paintings of their named trees, presented by President Chin and Dr Albert Chau, Vice-President (Teaching and Learning). Alumni supporters also joined the guided tour with their families and friends to learn more about the alumni trees and the campus development.
