Elite leaders to unleash students’ potential at SEED Talks

Three online “SEED Talks” presented by the University will be conducted in June, and they will feature Mr Chan Koonchung, Sinophone writer; Mr Steven Lam, co-founder and CEO of GOGOVAN; and Dr Cathy Lui, Chief Executive Officer of OPER Technology Limited and an HKBU alumna, as speakers.
The SEED Talk series is one of the Project SEED initiatives launched by the University. It aims to nurture Students through Engagement, Enhancement and Development, and help them overcome the challenges arising from the economic downturn. By engaging thought leaders and experienced advisors and mentors with rich knowledge from a diverse range of backgrounds and disciplines, the talks aim to nourish HKBU students, improve their competency, and provide them with a more enriched outlook as they chart their path for a fulfilling and rewarding life.
The three talks will be held at 4pm on three consecutive Fridays starting from 5 June. They are now open for online registration.

Speaker: Mr Chan Koonchung, Sinophone writer
Topic: Living Out the Contradictions of Our Time
As an influential writer, Mr Chan will boldly reveal the unavoidable contradictions one will encounter in life, especially the unprecedented challenges facing young people during these trying times. In particular, he will share his thoughts on living out the contradictions of our time, navigating the difficult terrains of commitment and freedom, ideal and reality, and the self and the communal, in one’s search for a more meaningful life.
Speaker: Mr Steven Lam Hoi-yuen, co-founder and CEO of GOGOVAN
Topic: Strive Under The Storm
Mr Steven Lam, the co-founder and CEO of GOGOVAN, will talk about his entrepreneurial journey of establishing the first app-based logistics platform in Asia. He will also share the secret of facing adversity with innovative thinking.
Speaker: Dr Cathy Lui Nga-ping, CEO of OPER Technology Limited
Topic: Building future capacity through SCIENCE
As a home-grown, award-winning HKBU scientist, Dr Lui will share how her academic journey at HKBU has shaped her to be an outstanding innovator and entrepreneur. She will introduce the growing opportunities in biomedical science and share tips on how non-science major students can start a rewarding career in technology companies.
