The Department of History held the History Alumni Association (HAA) Inauguration Ceremony cum the Launch of the Alumni Interview Book on 6 November. Nearly 180 alumni graduating since the 1970s, students, current and former faculty members, as well as University management gathered on campus and online for the joyful reunion. 

 

The Founding Executive Committee of the HAA comprises 13 history alumni of different cohorts and programmes. Miss Wendy Tang Wai-han, Chair of the Committee, thanked the Department for its passion in connecting with its alumni. She said that the Association aims to keep history alumni connected to one another, foster their success, and stay engaged with the Department.

 

With the support from the alumni, the HAA presented a cheque of HK$165,600 at the ceremony to the Department to establish the HKBU Alumni Association Founding Scholarship. Additional donations kept rolling in after the Cheque Presentation Ceremony. 

 

In his address, Interim Provost Professor Rick Wong congratulated the Department of History for the establishment of the HAA. He said the Scholarship could benefit students, and showcase the caring spirit of the HKBU community. Professor Clara Ho, Head of the Department, gratefully welcomed all participants who took their time to join the Ceremony in-person or online.  

 

The Department also took the occasion to launch the Alumni Interview Book, featuring interviews with 43 alumni who shared their experiences and wisdom. Please click here to view the electronic copy of the Book.
