HKBU today presented the grand prize of the 7th Dream of the Red Chamber Award to Mainland author Mr Liu Qingfor his novel History through Words.

Mr Liu was delighted to receive the award. He said that History through Words is his fourth novel, it took him five years of preparation and another 10 years to compose. The book described a hundred years of history of the Northeast China region through the word of mouth of the Manchu’s Shaman divine songs. He hoped that the novel would create a new narrative structure to view human nature from a different perspective, injecting divine, rational, and poetic elements with a tinge of bravery and righteousness, and showing compassion and grief at the same time.
