HKBU receives a total of HK$1.2 million in donations in support of research and teaching development of HKBU’s Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology

The University recently received a generous donation of HK$1 million from Mr. Philip Tiu, Chairman of Jia Ying (HK) Group, and HK$100,000 each from Miss Money Lam, Director – Product Development of Sweater Garment (HK) Ltd., and Mr. Gabi Lam, General Manager of Sin Tin Lun (HK) Garment Accessories Co. Ltd., in support of the research and teaching development of the HKBU’s Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology. 

 

In recognition of the donors’ generosity, a cheque presentation ceremony officiated by Mr. Philip Tiu, Miss Money Lam, Mr. Gabi Lam, his brother Mr. Jeffrey Lam and Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, was held yesterday (22 July). Guests attending the ceremony included Dr. Simon Suen, Honorary Permanent President of the HKBU Foundation, Founding President of the Development Committee of Jao Tsung-I Academy of Sinology and Chairman of SML Group Ltd., and Mrs. Mary Suen; Mr. Lam Cheung-chuen, Honorary President of the HKBU Foundation and Chairman of Sun Tin Lun Holdings Ltd., and Mrs. Lam; Professor Frank Fu, Associate Vice-President and Mrs. Lily Chan, Director of the University Advancement Office.

 

Established early this year, the Academy aims to further the understanding and preservation of Chinese cultural heritage through focused research supplemented by teaching in Sinology and Chinese Studies.
