HKBU Symphony Orchestra holds Annual Gala Concert featuring top pianist Andrew von Oeyen

The University held its Symphony Orchestra Annual Gala Concert last night (23 April 2019) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall. The Symphony Orchestra was conducted by its music director, Professor Johnny Poon, who is also the Head of the HKBU Department of Music, and the concert featured a debut Hong Kong performance from top American pianist Mr Andrew von Oeyen. With special lighting effects used on stage for the first time, all members of the audience were able to enjoy a wonderful evening with fabulous music and lighting.
Mr Andrew von Oeyen is a captivating pianist and has been hailed worldwide for his elegant and insightful performances. Since his debut at age 16 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Esa-Pekka Salonen, Mr Andrew von Oeyen has performed a broad range of concerto repertoire with such ensembles as the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, among others.
