The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) hosted a spring reception on campus on 28 February (Sunday), cementing ties with friends and supporters in the industry and other sectors. About 130 participants, including government officials, leaders and members of the Chinese medicine industry as well as faculty members, students and alumni attended the annual gathering.
To add festivity, a lion dance was staged at the opening ceremony officiated by Mr Wong Kit, Chairman of Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board, Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong; Dr Kennedy Wong, Chairman of SCM Advisory Committee; Mr Andy Lee, Acting President and Vice-Chancellor; and Professor Lu Aiping, Dean of SCM.
In his welcoming remarks, Mr Andy Lee congratulated the School on its achievements in the areas of education, research, standardisation of Chinese medicine, provision of clinical services and the promotion of Chinese medicine in the past year, and attributed its huge success to the hard work of its faculty and students as well as the tremendous support from the government, the Chinese medicine sector and alumni.
Professor Lu Aiping thanked friends and supporters for their support and the SCM community for their contribution. He pledged to continue working closely together with them to make even greater contributions to spur the development of Chinese medicine in the years ahead. Mr Lee and Professor Lu called on the participants to continue rendering their strong support to the University and SCM, especially on the University’s plan to build the first Chinese medicine hospital in Hong Kong.
