Mr Ho Kin-ting, a 2020 BBA graduate from the Entrepreneurship and Finance Concentration, was honoured with the “Star in the Making” award by the Institute of Financial Technologists of Asia (IFTA) at the FinTech Achievement Awards 2020. He was one of only two awardees in the category this year.

The “Star in the Making” award recognises students for their innovative projects or ideas that have the potential to positively transform the FinTech industry. In 2019, Kin-ting and two other HKBU classmates formed the team FOODCHAIN with the idea of offering financing solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises, a much-needed service, especially during the pandemic. The idea was also one of the winning projects of the Cyberport University Partnership Programme, which was supported by the Cyberport Creative Micro Fund.

Focusing on the theme of “Embracing FinTech amid New Normal and Accelerating Digitisation” this year, the IFTA FinTech Achievement Awards, now in its third year, recognise the important role talented corporations and individuals play in the development and implementation of FinTech.
