Biology alumna receives two women entrepreneur awards

Dr Cathy Lui, an alumna of the Department of Biology and CEO and co-founder of OPER Technology Limited, was presented with the Young Achiever of the Year award by the American Chamber of Commerce at the Women of Influence Awards in Hong Kong on 12 November. The prize was awarded in recognition of her strong leadership potential in the field of biotechnology. 

 

Dr Lui also received the Greater Bay Area Outstanding Young Women Entrepreneur Award in early November in recognition of her distinguished achievements and contributions to the development of the Greater Bay Area. The award was jointly presented by the Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises Association and FM 104 Metro Finance.

 

Dr Lui found her passion for biomedical science as an undergraduate at HKBU. Her biotech startup mainly focuses on the development of innovative technologies such as personalised stem cell therapies and nanomedicine. She thanked Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor of HKBU, for nominating her for both awards. She also expressed her gratitude for being able to grow and flourish at HKBU.
