Two Post-Doctoral Research Fellows of the Law Sau Fai Institute for Advancing Translational Medicine in Bone & Joint Diseases, School of Chinese Medicine, have recently won awards at international conferences for their excellent bone studies.

 

Dr Liang Chao won the 2017 Webster Jee Young Investigator Award for his poster presentation entitled “From precision medicine to drug discovery: inhibition of osteoblastic Smurf1 promotes bone formation in distinctive individuals with age-related osteoporosis”. The award-winning presentation was made at the 2017 International Chinese Musculoskeletal Research Society-Orthopaedic Research Society (ICMRS-ORS) Membership Meeting held in San Diego, USA.

 

Dr Yu Yuanyuan won a travel award for her poster presentation entitled “An innovative gain-loss cell-SELEX strategy for development of a nucleic acid aptamer against PD-L1 for immunotherapy of triple negative breast cancer”. The award-winning presentation was made at the fourth Oxford symposium on aptamers, Aptamers 2017, held in Oxford, UK.
