Dr Merle Hinrich, Founder and Chairman of the Hinrich Foundation and an Honorary University Fellow of HKBU, was honoured with The Entrepreneurial Achievement Award by Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS). The award is in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of global trade through business and education, and his charitable work and commitment to society. He is among only three awardees of this honour worldwide this year.

At the award presentation ceremony held by the BGS HKBU Chapter on 28 September, Dr Hinrich shared about his entrepreneurial journey in the past five decades. He said it has always been his conviction that sustainable global trade promotes peace between nations. “All businesses are constantly evolving, and we as entrepreneurs have to adjust accordingly to keep abreast of the ever-changing business environment. However, change is not always easy, so you have to be very flexible and thoroughly understand your capabilities before you can operate in a variety of cultures and cope with change.”
