HKBU alumni shine in Scholarship for Excellence Scheme and documentary contest

Three HKBU alumni have been selected by the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme 2019 to receive a grant for pursuing postgraduate studies at world-renowned universities.
The three awardees include recent Department of Biology graduate Alex Wong. He will study a Doctor of Philosophy in Cancer Sciences at the University of Manchester. Mr Cheng Man-wai, an alumnus of the China Studies Programme and the Department of Music, will undertake a Master of Music in Voice Performance at Stony Brook University. Meanwhile, School of Communication alumna Ms Wang Jieying will study a Master of Arts in Cinema Studies - Moving Image Archiving and Preservation at New York University.
In addition, Law Hong-ting, a recent Chinese Journalism (Broadcast Journalism stream) graduate, won the Commendation Award in the 2019 TVB Inter-Collegiate Documentary Competition. It is the sixth consecutive year that an HKBU student has won an award in this competition. The winning documentary, which was entitled 6430‧Still standing?, is about two Hong Kong people who witnessed the 1989 Tiananmen Square incident in Beijing, and how the event has changed them over the past 30 years.
