HKBU athletes shine at World University Woodball Championship
12 Dec 2016
Two students of the Physical Education and Recreation Management (PERM) programme excelled at the World University Woodball Championship 2016 in Taipei. Lau Yu-ki (Year 5) won a gold medal in the Men’s Team Stroke Event while Liu Tsz-yan (Year 2) won bronze medals in the Women’s Team Stroke Event and the Women’s Single Fairway Event.
This was Tsz-yan’s first time in the competition as a member of the Hong Kong Team. “I strove very hard in my training to improve my capability and finally was selected as a member of the Hong Kong Team. Due to the shortage of training venues, all team members treasured every training session, which not only strengthened our skills and strategies, but also improved our psychological state during the competitions,” she said.
Tsz-yan was happy about winning these valuable prizes, which have motivated her to aim for higher targets. Now, she is in training for the Hong Kong intercollegiate woodball competition to be held in March next year and is looking forward to taking part in another World University Woodball Championship.
