Professor Zhang Jianhua, Associate Vice-President (Global Research Collaboration) and Chair Professor of Biology, has been named a Highly Cited Researcher 2021 by Clarivate™ for the impact and influence of his exceptional research in the field of plant and animal science.

Professor Zhang is an internationally-renowned scholar and an expert in the areas of plant stress physiology and the water-saving cultivation of field crops. He is the only recipient from HKBU this year.

Each year, Clarivate™ identifies the world’s most influential researchers ─ the select few who have been most frequently cited by their peers over the last decade, and have hence had a significant impact on the ongoing research in their respective fields of study. In 2021, fewer than 6,700, or about 0.1%, of the world’s researchers, in 21 research fields and across multiple areas, have earned this exclusive distinction.
