HKBU presents Long Service Award and President's Award for Outstanding Performance at 59th Founders' Day Thanksgiving Service

The University held its 59th Founders' Day Thanksgiving Service today (5 March) with Dr Charles Cheng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, as the guest speaker.
At the Service, Professor Albert Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor, presented the Long Service Award to 218 staff in recognition of their dedicated service to the University over the years and the President's Award for Outstanding Performance to six academic/teaching staff to recognise their outstanding performance as well as promote excellence in performance standards and encourage colleagues to press on to greater achievements.
Professor Chiu Sung-nok of the Department of Mathematics and Mr Lau Chi-kuen of the Department of Journalism received the President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching. Professor Xia Yiji of the Department of Biology was awarded the President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work. Professor Cheuk Pak-tong of the Academy of Film won the President's Award for Outstanding Performance in Service. The President's Award for Outstanding Young Researcher went to Dr Wee Lian-hee of the Department of English Language and Literature and Dr Zhang Ge of the Teaching and Research Division of the School of Chinese Medicine. The recipients of the 35-year Long Service Award are Dr Chik Pik-yuk, Associate Professor of Education; Professor Chow Kai-wing, Professor of History; and Professor Li Si-ming, Chair Professor of Geography. This year, a total of 91 members of staff received the award for 10 or 15 years of service, 74 were recognised for their 20 years of service, 45 for their 25 years of service, and eight members were honoured for their 30 or 35 years of service.
