HKBU presents President’s Award for Outstanding Performance to five distinguished academic staff in recognition of teaching and research excellence

The University presented today (29 April) the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance to five academic or teaching staff to recognise their brilliant performance in teaching or research, promoting excellence in performance standards and encouraging colleagues to make greater achievements. The awardees were: 

 

President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching

Professor Cheung Siu-yin, Professor of the Department of Physical Education

Dr Glos Ho Wing-yan, Lecturer of the Department of Marketing

 

President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Scholarly Work

Professor Cheah Kok-wai, Chair Professor of the Department of Physics

 

President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Service

Professor Albert Lee Wai-ming, Chair Professor of the Department of Chemistry

 

President’s Award for Outstanding Young Researcher

Dr Byron Choi Koon-kau, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Science

Professor Roland Chin, President and Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the award winners. He said that professors and teachers are the soul of a university; they create, disseminate, transmit and apply knowledge, as well as serve as a role model to inspire students and the public. He commended the awardees, saying each one of them is “the best of the best” and represent HKBU by fulfilling these roles superbly and contributing their best to teaching, research and service.

 

On the same occasion, Professor Franklin Luk, Vice-President (Academic), presented the Faculty/School Performance Award and the General Education Teaching Award to 10 academic and teaching staff.

Faculty/School Performance Award in Scholarly Work 

Professor Eva Man Kit-wah, Professor of the Department of Humanities and Creative Writing 

Dr Yu Zhiling, Associate Professor of the School of Chinese Medicine

Professor Patrick Lau Wing-chung, Professor of the Department of Physical Education 

 

Faculty/School Performance Award in Service 

Professor Tan Zaixi, Professor of the Department of English Language and Literature

Mr Simon So Kwan-kow, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Management

 

Faculty/School Performance Award for Young Researcher

Dr Ruth Hung Yu-yui, Assistant Professor of the Department of English Language and Literature
Dr Amy Chen Yuanyi, Assistant Professor of the Department of Management 

 

General Education Teaching Award

Ms Jenny Choe Jae-hee, Lecturer of the Language Centre

 

A Selection Committee chaired by the President and Vice-Chancellor with members comprising the Vice-President (Academic), the Vice-President (Research and Development) and representatives of academic and teaching staff evaluated every single nomination against the selection criteria of each award before deciding on the award recipients.
