Dr. Ken Leung, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chemistry, won the Material Research Contribution Award presented by the Asia Pacific Society for Materials Research in recognition of his accomplishments in materials research. Dr. Leung was invited to deliver a lecture entitled “Interfacial Self-Assembly and Theranostic Applications of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Nanomaterials” during the 2013 International Conference for Top and Emerging Materials Scientists that was held on the Mainland last month.

Dr. Leung was delighted to be nominated as an awardee and said, “It is encouraging to receive the award which acknowledges my efforts in materials science over the years. The upcoming research challenge for my work would be the development of personalised nanomedicine, which has huge potential applications in the field of biomedical science.” His research focuses on the synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials for cancer diagnosis and therapy applications.
