Music alumna awarded Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence

Miss Anna Tse Man-kiu, a 2020 graduate of the Department of Music, has been selected as an awardee of the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme 2021 (HKSES). HKSES was launched by the Education Bureau, and it aims to support local students pursue their studies at world-renowned universities outside of Hong Kong, with a view to grooming a top cadre of talented individuals with a global vision, international network and world-class education, thereby contributing to enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness as Asia’s World City in a globalised knowledge economy.
Anna has just started her Master of Music (Piano Performance) studies at the University of Montreal in Canada. “Here I have the opportunity to learn piano from world-renowned musicians, including Professor Jean Saulnier and Professor Charles Richard-Hamelin in my postgraduate studies. I look forward to acquiring insights from the world masters and striving to be an adept musician,” said Anna.
Under HKSES, Anna will receive a scholarship of up to HK$300,000 each year. She is also the recipient of the Université de Montréal Exemption Scholarship. She said that she is honoured to receive both scholarships, and she attributed her achievements to the support of her family as well as the nurturing and guidance of her teachers, including Professor David Chung, Professor, Dr Yoonie Han, Assistant Professor, and Dr Cherry Tsang, Adjunct Lecturer of the Department of Music at HKBU.
