Professor Raymond Wong, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Chemistry, was named Highly Cited Researcher 2014, Materials Science category, by Thomson Reuters. The Highly Cited Researchers list shines a spotlight on influential researchers who rank among the top 1% most cited in their specific field. An award presentation ceremony was held in Hong Kong yesterday (15 October). HKBU representatives who attended the ceremony included Professor Rick Wong, Vice President (Research and Development) and Professor Tang Tao, Dean of the Faculty of Science.

A total of 3,215 scholars worldwide in 21 fields of sciences and social sciences, such as biology, chemistry, physics, clinical medicine, computer science, engineering, environment, materials science and mathematics were included. Professor Wong was selected as one of the 147 materials science experts, only five of whom are based in Hong Kong universities.

The Highly Cited Researchers were selected by taking into consideration the number of a scholar's influential papers cited at different levels of citation over a period of 10 years (2002 – 2012). For more information, please visit: www.highlycited.com
