The Society of Chinese Materia Medica recently staged an exhibition on Chinese medicinal plants carrying the theme of “Lingnan Chinese Medicinal Cuisine Culture” at the Hong Kong Flower Show and won the Special Award for Outstanding Exhibit.

A variety of plants commonly found in southern China was on display at the exhibition with an introduction of the Chinese medicinal cuisine culture in the Lingnan area and the traditional Chinese medicine theory of “plants used simultaneously for food and medicine”. The award-winning display included medicinal plants used for sweet soup, herbal tea, Chinese food therapy, soup and preserved fruits. The Society hoped the exhibition could provide an opportunity for the public to appreciate beautiful medicinal plants while arousing their knowledge and interest towards Chinese medicine.
